sewing challenges & competitions

Our sewing competitions are designed to motivate and challenge.

You don’t have to be an expert to enter; you just need a dash of creativity, a pinch of daring and loads of enthusiasm.  We like to reward effort with a prize, but not all competitions will be judged.  Sometimes a winner is picked by random draw.  Remember, you have to be in it to win it!

Keep warm this winter in this cozy sweater-knit dress.  The pattern is very simple and suitable for beginners; more advanced sewists are welcome to jazz it up.

The challenge is working with knits and attaching ribbing.

Everyone is welcome to enter - it's free!  Only ASG members will be eligible for the prize draw.

Time to dive into your stash of fabric scraps - all those gorgeous bits that are too nice to throw out but too small to make a garment.

Let your imagination run wild and turn fabric into unique pieces of jewellery.  Make just one piece or make a collection.

Leaving the cooler months behind, it's time to start sewing for Spring and Summer.  The oh-so-simple Harvest Top from Peppermint Magazine is our pattern of choice.  The design lines present lots of options for use of colour, patterns, plains, trims...endless possibilities.
